Thanksgiving and Angel Joey's Gotcha Day

This is our first Thanksgiving  without our dear, funny, Angel Joey.  He was gotted on a Thanksgiving  14 years ago after getting into yet another cat fight and getting wounded - he was being attacked because he was a lover not a fighter.  Mom lured him into the back porch while Pop was cooking dinner to bring over Grandma's house.

In the middle of preparing for all the festivities the peeps had to try to coral Joey on the porch and move him to a small place in the house so he could be treated for his sores and let him learn to live inside.  He recovered and became the goodwill ambassador to all the others cats that would come to live with us.

He loved everyone.  He was happiest in the middle of a pile of cats. He made Mom and Pop smile. He had huge eyes that would stare into your soul.  He was love incarnate.  We miss you Joey and think of you everyday!  We are so thankful we had your love in our lives for 13 years.  Enjoy some our favorite photos of Angel Joey.

Sharing his nip carrot with Yoko.

Never one to pass up a box.

Wishing you all a day full of  love, laughter, smiles, family, making memories that remain forever. Thank you for your friendship, kindness and visits to our blog and Facebook page. We appreciate your friendship very much! Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Wildcat Woods.

Model Monday

Mom has joined an online photography group that requires posting a photograph a day for 365 days - not easy to do.  She is having fun and of course many days we are the subjects of her photos.  So on Mondays she will post her portraits of us - some are black and white, others kind of poster like, some are funny and others just cool.  Hope you like them and check back often. Today our sweet Darby is the model!

Thankful Thursday with Callie!

For Thankful Thursday this week we are turning the blog over to Callie, our newest member and a tiny girl.

Hi…boy this is all so new to me!  I guess you all know that Mom found me on 11/1 this year where she works (you can read the story here).  Anyway she has been working hard to find my previous guardian or someone who knows what may have happened to her and me.  Mom posted online on all the Lost & Found listings, and on the Facebook pages for the local vets.  She got some leads but all the phone numbers were dead ends.  Finally she wrote a note and mailed to the address of  the older lady who adopted me in 2007 (Barbara) and included our phone number.

Last night Barbara called – turns out she renamed me Toby (? Isn’t that a boy name?)  and kept me for three years but her older cat hated me and always attacked me.  Four years ago, Barbara gave me to an acquaintance, hoping that I would have a happier home life and not be attacked all the time.  Apparently the second lady who had me moved out west, far away, this past June. No one has her address or phone now.  Barbara was very upset thinking that I was left outside on my own for that long!  She still has the crabby older cat so she can't take me back.

I am fuzzy about what happened to me – I may have been living on my own outside for six months or maybe someone else took me but I don’t know who.  All I do know is that I really like it here at Wildcat Woods!  When I first got here, I slept all the time except for eating and using the litter box. I was tired and worn out.  I had my own small room and liked it.

Now I can come out if Mom and Pop are home.  The other cats leave me alone or are just curious. Sweetpea does growl at me but that is nothing compared to what I put up with before.  I can go in my room if it all gets too much.

Mostly I want to be next to Mom or in the same room as her.  I just love her and sit and stare at her sending lots of my love her way!  I play a little bit with nip toys. I don’t think I had any toys or at least no one played with me.  I do love to eat, nap and watch the birds.  I make Mom laugh when I run from one end of the house to the other.  I am tiny – the size of Darby and Sweetpea – about five pounds.

Mom says that I came to her a lot like Angel Chica did.  I just ran up to her and let her pick me up just like Angel Chica did when she found her.  I have black tortie colors on my back so when I am curled up napping and Mom sees me, I look like Angel Chica from the back.  It makes Mom smile so I don't mind.
I am very thankful to have a good forever home like this.  I know that all the other kitties will accept me in no time and I look forward to hosting more blog posts soon!  I just wish all the homeless dogs and cats had a chance of finding a great place to live like I did!

Tabby Tuesday with Jack

Jack hunting in the weeds

Lots of activity with Jack (our neighbor's cat) hunting in our yard.Mom caught the action as he nabbed a vole - pretty exciting since we don't get to hunt unless a stray mouse wanders inside!

Got the vole!

Wanting to play with it.
Mom tried to rescue the vole from Jack but he kept running away before she could pick him up.  He was a tiny little thing.

Vole
We won't show you the rest of the action - not that mom took any pics of Jack snacking on the vole!  He keeps our crawlspace under the house pest free!

We hope that any of you who lie int he Midwest are OK and not suffering from the tornadoes.  We are purring for all the peeps and critters in that area!

Thankful Thursday

Pop and Marg walking back from the barn
A few weeks ago Mom and Pop went to visit our buddy Marg (from Marg's Animals) and got to meet Dee (from TK and Pip) too  The saw the donkeys, kitties and Ande and then all the peeps went to a long lunch nearby.  It was a fun day and we enjoyed meeting Dee.  Here are some pics of Marg's animals.  Can you tell us who is who in the pics?

Ande keeps her eyes shut in hte bright sun!

Do you know who this is?

How about this cute kitty?

Guess this lovely cat's name.

Who is this cute donkey?
We are so very thankful for the friendship of our blog buddies like Marg and Dee.  We all share our love of animals and blogging about them.  Life is so much more interesting with all of you in it!  Have a great day!

Mahoney was very curious about Mom's fancy camera!

Happy Veterans Day!

We want to thank all the vets out there who serve and have served our country.  Our Pop served in the Navy fresh out of high school.  This is the only pic Mom could find.  He looks so young, doesn't he? His father, our Grandpop also served in the military too.

We have some news.  After a week of being offline we are finally back on but still have no land line phone!  Very frustrating.  But that is not the big news....A week ago Mom was coming out of work at night and a tiny cat was out in the parking lot running up to everyone.  Most people just ignored her but Mom talked to the kitty and she came right over and let Mom pick her up.  She was a tiny girl calico with white feet and chest and huge white whiskers.

Mom put her in the car and texted Pop to get the cat carrier ready when she got home. She was worried the kitty would try to escape but there was no problem.  Pop put the carrier in the back seat while Mom held the cat.  She went right into the carrier without a fuss.

She is living with us right now.  The local no-kill shelter is very full but they did scan her and the kitty has a microchip with the number of another local no-kill rescue.  They gave Mom the name and number of the person who adopted the kitty.

Turns out she was born in 2006, making her an older cat.  Her name then was Priscilla and she was adopted in 2007 to an older woman in Asheville, NC.  Mom called both phone numbers on the adoption sheet but one was no longer in service and the other was a cell number that may not be the same person after six yeas.  Anyway no one called back and the area code was Alaska so that won't help much!

She is very sweet, easy to be around and likes to be petted.  We think someone may have dumped her in the area of the hotel since all the houses nearby are large expensive homes. The local address for her 2007 adopter is quite far from the hotel and this kitty is not used to being outdoors.  The hotel does have a resident feral cat group living in the area so maybe someone thought Priscilla will be able to fend for herself.

Mom renamed her Callie Calico and if we don't find her human, we may keep her unless someone out there wants this beauty.  We have lots of kitties to care for and she might like to be with a smaller group to get more attention.  Anyone???

Happy Veterans Day to all our vets.  Thank you for coming to Snowball's Gotcha Day party.  We all had a great time! We will be catching up on visits after a week away!

Nov 2 - Happy 7th Gotcha Day Snowball!

We have a big problem - our Internet is down along with our land line so Mom had to post this early from work but she is off the next three days. This is par for the course for me - Mom usually forgets and does it at the last minute or not at all.  But I do know how much she loves me so I let it pass.

Since Nov 2 is the Day of the Dead, we thought this will be our theme this year.  We will have lots of authentic Mexican finger foods and tasty sugar skulls for dessert!

I have lost lots of weight (not too much tho) since my emergency vet visit earlier this year for a UTI and blockage.  Now I am so slim and trim, Mom can't tell me from the other white cats. All she did was stop feeding me dry foods and just give me canned. I did not like this one bit but now I am able to get around so much better and my hips do not hurt me anymore like they did.

I won't bore you with the story of how I can to be with Mom and Pop and the other cats but if you don't know and want to read about it just click here.

Just relax and help yourself to the food, music, and enjoy the festivities!  Thanks for stopping by!  Oh and don't forget what this day is for - take a moment to remember, light a candle or visit a grave to honor a two or four-legged being who has come before and crossed over to the other side.  We have lost so many this year.

If anyone needs to reach Mom - please use her cell phone as she has no Internet access (no smartphone) and no landline!  We will let y'all know when we are back in business again!
