Thankful Thursday with Chica

Guess what I am waiting for?  Give up?  Pop is cooking supper on the grill and he promised me a piece of his steak!  (By the way, my ears are not dirty - they are colored that way)

This grilling stuff could take a while...I might as well get comfy.  What is nice about being as old as I am (20 going on 21) is that I get sooo spoiled.  I get to eat of the beans' plate and no one else does.  Well,... they get to have what I don't eat but I get first pick!

This is taking longer than I thought...I am starting to doze off.

I smell meat!  It is coming soon cuz Mom got her plate.  She is a vegetarian so I am not very interested in her food.

Yum, yum, yum.  This was worth waiting for!  Do get to eat off your bean's plate?

Just to let you know I am feeling much better today.  I had to go to the V-E-T on Wed cuz I was throwing up the night before.  I have CRF so things like this means something is out of wack.  I am going to get sub c fluids every other day now and something called Pepcid too to help my tummy.  I am OK tho.  I got a big  21st birthday celebration coming up this month and I want to be in good shape for that.  We will keep you posted when the big day is.  So... I am thankful I get spoiled like I do and that I had had such a long wonderful life!

P.S.  Our computer crashed sometime last night and we cannot get on.  Mom will go to the library to check out things but we will have to see if we need a new computer.  If you don't hear from us for a few days - thattis why.

Happy Memorial Day!

In memory of all those in uniform who gave their lives for our freedom.

Let there be peace, welfare and righteousness
in every part of the world.

Let confidence and friendship prevail
for the good of east and west
for the good of the needy south
for the good of all humanity.

Let the people inspire their leaders
helping them to seek peace by peaceful means
helping them and urging them
to build a better world
a world with a home for everybody
a world with food and work for everybody
a world with spiritual freedom
for everybody.

Let those who have the power of money
be motivated by selfless compassion.
Let money become a tool
for the good of humankind.

Let those who have power
deal respectfully with the resources of the planet.
Let them respect and maintain
the purity of the air, water, land and subsoil.
Let them co-operate to restore
the ecological soundness of Mother Earth.

Let trees grow up by the billions
around the world.
Let green life invade the deserts.

Let industry serve humanity
and produce waste that serves nature.

Let technology respect
the holiness of Mother Earth.

Let those who control the mass media
contribute to create mutual understanding
contribute to create optimism and confidence.

Let ordinary people
meet by the millions across the borders.
Let them create a universal network
of love and friendship.

Let billions of human beings
co-operate to create a good future
for their children and grandchildren.

Let us survive
In peace and harmony with Mother Earth.  ~ Hagen Hasselbalch

If we can all get along, then humans should be able to too! We are cats for peace! Happy Memorial Day ya'll!

Happt Birthday ML!!!!

Today is a very special day in the blogosphere - it is ML's birthday!  (Do go by and wish her a great day!) Without ML there would be no Cat Blogosphere and most of us would not have met all of our cat blogger friends.  She keeps this group running smoothly, lets us know of any events taking place and makes sure we are all taken care of whatever our needs are.  You are super, terrific and amazing ML!  Hope your birthday is as extra special as you are.

Happy Birthday from all us Cats of Wildcat Woods.  (Comments are off today!)

Midnight Monday with Mamacita

It's a tight squeeze but I got in the cat tree!

I am house panther Mamacita hosting the blog today.  Mom asked me to talk about Best Friend's Animal Society's Back in Black 2 - the second annual month long effort to showcase black dogs and cat in shelters and to get them adopted!

Black pets have a harder time to find new homes. Because many people adopt from online photos it hurts us  cuz we don't show up well in photos.  Ask Mom.  She tries so hard to take my picture and not many come out showing me in my best light. I have stunning eyes but they never seem to show up in my photos.  But I do have some very endearing qualities....

I love my ESS and often fall asleep on it.  I like the way it fits my portly shape.  For some reason I like to lay with my front paws up on something and this works fine.

I love my pal Joey.  He is a super snuggler and lets me use him for a pillow anytime I want.  I also have a habit of getting all excited and running in front of Mom when she is rushing to get ready for work.  She keeps saying "Look out, look out" for me to get out of the way so she won't step on me.  I think I thought that was my name at first cuz she yells it so much.  But I know it's not.

I am a plus sized girl, as you can see here.  I love to eat but I also like to scoop out a piece of dry food and bat it around on the floor.  That's fun!  It drives Mom nuts cuz she always steps on the food and crunches it to pieces.

I like to play with nip toys, boxes, the red lazer dot...just about anything.  I even like wrassling...with my daughter Rosa.  We look like two sumo wrestlers when we go at it on the floor.  Thump, thump, bang!  Rosa is my best buddy and you will hear from her later this week.

I am kinda shy too being a feral so I don't like to be picked up but will get up on the sofa or bed and sit next to Mom.  Sometimes I even get on her lap...but not too often.

I hope this shows how even feral black cats can be fun to have around the house.  Every house needs a panther!!!  Adopt black pets!!!  They deserve a chance too.

Oh and P.S.  Thanks for coming to the party for Yoko.  She was thrilled and had the time of her life!

Happy 19th Gotcha Day Yoko (And Mother's Day too)

Mom here today.  Nineteen years ago on Mother's Day weekend, dear sweet Yoko was a gift from my husband to me, a rescued 6 week old kitten from Animal Control in Florida. It has been a pleasure to share our lives with her. She has been giving us the gift of her love over and over through all these years. Here are some things about Yoko that make us smile....

...her gift of burrowing into bedding, pillows and settling in as if we put her there.

..how her easy going nature makes her  a perfect victim for stalking and surprise ambushes (like this one with Darby behind her)

....sneaks onto the bed at night to curl up next to me.

...licks me awake int he early morning hours telling me she hungry.

...how she licks cream cheese off my finger and closes her eyes, looking so supremely happy to eat this.

...loves to sit and stare at the Christmas tree lights for the longest times

...eats very slowly, deliberately, pausing every so often (it seems like) to savor her food

her funny feet that seem too big for her body

...naps in the oddest places - on the sweaters in the closet, under newly washed laundry

...wails in a high squeaky voice when she wants something.  (This is how she got her name.)

We leave you with this song by John Lennon called Oh Yoko, about her namesake!

We love you sweet Yokie  and hope you will be with us for years to come!  You were the best Mother's Day gift I ever got.  Help yourself to the cake, ice cream, nip, tunnels, crinkle balls and  let the celebration begin!

All of us at Wildcat Woods wish all Moms everywhere a wonderful Mother's Day!!!!

Shadow Play with Darby

ATTENTION - Yoko's Gotcha Day is always on Mothers Day so will be celebrated as usual on Sunday May 13! Please come back for the party!

I have a new friend that I play with almost every afternoon!   His name is Mr. Shadow!  I go wait in the bedroom for him to visit.

He shows up on the wall by the fan.  He plays hide and seek with me and makes all kinds of funny animals and critters.

I try very hard to catch him but I never do.

Mom thinks it's funny when I go to the bed every day and wait for my friend to visit!  I just sit and stare at the wall and he most always comes by!  Mom is usually getting ready for work at this time so she sees him too.

Do you have a Mr. Shadow to play with?
