Thankful Thursday

Snowball in his box.

Sorry - it has been a long week between posts.  First off we are very thankful that our sweet roly ploy Snowball is recovering nicely from his UTI.  Mom caught it very early and he went right on antibiotics.  He will be getting two other remedies - Tripsy from Petwellbeing.com and homeopathic PetsAlive UTI Free for a while too.  Both will help keep him free of UTI's.  Plus his weight will have to come off - no more dry food even the better quality. The added weight and being male makes him more predisposed to UTIs. All the whitesters will be eating Wellness canned food from now on.  Mom is weaning them off dry food now.  So far so good.

We are very thankful we have gotten to know our sweet friends Sammy, Andy, Shelly and Sierra and their Mom Judi.  Judi has not been well and could use some big big purrs and prayers.  We enjoy their blog very much.  Judi could use some support - if you would like to use snail mail to send her cards and notes, ask me for her address.

We are thankful for all our blogging friends - you guys are super.  We have never met such a supportive group of pet lovers in all the world.  Mom has been lurking even tho she has not been posting and keeps up with all of you!

Finally, our mom is having a commentathon to celebrate her birthday this coming Saturday March 3.  Please mark your calendar for the date and stop back by for the fun party and to leave a comment.  The money raised will got to help a dear friend of ours  that we have been to visit - well Mom and Pop and flat Chica got to go.  Anyway - March 3 everybody!

Happy March!  Our yard is full of daffodils of all sizes!  Enjoy!

It's Mardi Gras!!!!

The kitty girls from Jacqueline's Cat House are hosting the Mardi Gras celebration and we are all invited to join in.  Our town had a Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday parade this past Sunday with colorful floats and costumes galore. The parade theme this year was "Royal Wedding" so there were outrageous bridesmaids everywhere you looked.  Big amazing fun hats were also "in"!  The attendees did not let a bit of rain dampen their enthusiasm.

Keeping that theme in mind, we joined in and went the same route.  May we present King Two Spot and Queen Ivy  officiating over the Mardi Gras festivities at Wildcat Woods!  We will be celebrating well into the night with great Cajun and Creole food, especially King Cake,  Madi Gras Mambo music and lots of partaying! We joined in on Our World Tuesday too.

Be sure to try this special King Cake!  And then get out your dancing shoes for the Mambo!

Happy Valentine's Day

Me, Chica as a young ladycat.

Hope you don't mind if this is a repost from Mom's other blog and many of you have not seen it.  Mom is still sick - hasn't been out of the house in a week.

This is a very special day in our house - our people's 20th wedding anniversary, Pop's birthday (we won't tell you how old) and Valentine's Day! Mom and Pop have postponed their celebration until Mom feel much better but she did get some flowers from all of us!

We just wanted to take you down memory lane to 20 years ago today.....we (Chica,  Mom and Pop - Yoko didn't come to live with us until 2 years later) were living in SW Florida and decided to get married on Valentine's Day. Since both families lived in other parts of the country they, being a very unconventional couple, just went ahead and did it without telling anyone. In Florida, at the time, all you needed to do to get married was to have your marriage license notarized. Since it was a busy day at the courthouse, they found a realtor in town who would do it. We lived a block up the street so the folks got "married" at the real estate office, had breakfast at one of their favorite places and headed to the Everglades for a day of hiking and birdwatching. Not everyone's idea of a perfect wedding day but it was theirs!

This top pic is where the so called wedding took place and below Pop is posing in the banyan tree at the end of our street.

Their wedding photo is unique. They wore hiking clothes so they could head off to the Everglades after breakfast. Their neighbors bought white roses for flowers and took them to breakfast. They  like to celebrate our special holidays by either going for a hike or going out to eat. Pop is a chef so that is understood. They never tired of visiting the Everglades while living in Florida!

They visited their favorite photography studios in the Everglades - Clyde Butcher who is a modern Florida Ansel Adams capturing breathtaking larger than life black and white photos of the natural surroundings in the Everglades. We have a couple of his photos in our house to remind us of a very special day!

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you from all of us!  May your day be special whatever you do!

Let me rearrange myself in here better.

Ow, ow! Woody, that was my foot you sat on! Geez what a pain.

OK I think we are getting there.  A bit more adjustment.

Ahh, comfy at last.

Tortie Groundhog Garden Thursday!

Phil - photo from groundhog.org

Chica here for Tortie Thursday.   It seems that Punxatawney Phil came out of his lair and saw his shadow this morning so as the legend goes we will have six more weeks of winter.  Well, I don't know about you but we have not had winter yet...so 6 more weeks of no winter sounds good to me!

This is a scene from last year on this day!  We had record snow, cold and lots of winter.

This is this year - we have snowdrops, phlox and daffodils coming up all over the yard and no snow in sight! I'll take this year thank you, more please!

Happy Groundhog Day!  What's in your yard?
